The Phillip Wylie Newsletter
Welcome to the first edition of The PWN! Thanks to a friend for sharing last year that PWN stood for Phillip Wylie Network, I recently realized it could also stand for Phillip Wylie Newsletter. So why can’t it be both? It now stands for both. I am starting a newsletter and a community on Discord.
In this newsletter, I will share resources and information about my podcast. I will also share conferences and events that I will be attending. I have had requests for me to share where I will be.
June Podcast Episodes
The June episodes of The Phillip Wylie Show featured Dr. Eric Cole, Ashley Sequeria, Dan DeCloss, John Rodriguez, and Kevin Woods.
This month’s episodes of The Phillip Wylie Show, Phillip sits down with some of the most respected minds in cybersecurity. Dr. Eric Cole shares his extensive knowledge from decades in cyber defense, while Ashley Sequeira discusses leadership and building strong cybersecurity cultures. Dan DeCloss dives into the evolution of offensive security and report automation, and John Rodriguez emphasizes integrity and purpose in red teaming. Kevin Woods rounds out the lineup with insights into mentorship and breaking into the field. Each episode delivers practical takeaways and inspiring stories for cybersecurity professionals at every stage.

New Podcast Coming Soon!
I am excited to share that I am starting a new podcast called Simply Offensive. Simply Offensive is a new addition to the Simply Cyber Media podcast family. Episodes will be published weekly on Tuesdays. The July 1st episode 1 will be available. You can find the podcast on Simply Cyber’s YouTube channel under a podcast and playlist for Simply Offensive. It will also be available on popular podcast platforms. https://www.youtube.com/@SimplyCyber

Cybersecurity Tools
My security tool pick for the week is Caido. Caido is an alternative to Burp Suite or ZAP, two popular web application pentesting and security assessment tools. I met Emile Fugulin, one of the Caido cofounders, at BSides SF in San Francisco before the 2025 RSA Conference. I learned about their tool from NahamSec last year from his social media posts and YouTube videos. They offer a free essentials version, and the full version or pro version is $20 a month. Caido can be found here at their website: https://caido.io/. Caido is offering The PWN newsletter readers a 40% discount for the first 100 to purchase Caido. The 40% off discount renews at the discounted price on the Individual Tier (yearly or monthly). Use this coupon code at checkout: C1379239
