Simply Offensive

This week’s episode features Joe Brinkley. Joe Brinkley, better known as The Blind Hacker, is the Founder of the DeadPixelSec community and a seasoned offensive security professional. Joe shares his journey from sysadmin to red teamer, his philosophy on mentorship, and candid insights on burnout in cybersecurity.

Whether you're breaking into the field or looking to level up, this episode offers invaluable advice on growth and community.

Cybersecurity Tools

My tool pick of the week is Nmap. Nmap (Network Mapper) is a network scanner created by Gordon Lyon (also known by his pseudonym Fyodor Vaskovich). Nmap is used to discover hosts and services on a computer network by sending packets and analyzing the responses. Nmap offers several features for probing computer networks, including host discovery and service and operating system detection. These features are extensible by scripts that provide more advanced service detection, vulnerability detection, and other features. Nmap can adapt to network conditions, including latency and congestion, during a scan. Tools evolve over time, but Nmap has been one of my go-to penetration testing tools that I continue to use today.

Nmap can be found here https://nmap.org/.
